Weigh-In Day

First time on the scale in two weeks, coming off vacation.

I gained one pound in the last two weeks.

On one hand, that's not bad. I cheated a bit while we were away, but I also got a significant amount of exercise walking around those blasted theme parks. So to have gained a pound really isn't that big a deal.

Except to me, now, it is a big deal. I've been treading water for a few weeks now, and I still find it way to easy to make excuses or write off the one pound here or one pound there.

At some point, enough is enough.

I'm not one to make bold predictions most of the time, but I'll be surprised if I have another weight gain anytime soon.

Anyway, the scorecard after 30 weeks:

Week One - Lost 9
Week Two - Lost 3
Week Three - Lost 3
Week Four - Lost 0
Week Five - Lost 9
Week Six - Lost 5
Week Seven - GAINED 2
Week Eight - Lost 0
Week Nine - Lost 5

Week 13 - Lost 7
Week 14 - Lost 1
Week 15 - GAINED 3
Week 16 - Lost 5
Week 17 - GAINED 3
Week 18 - Lost 4
Week 19 - Lost 3
Week 20 - Lost 0
Week 21 - Lost 6
Week 22 - No Weigh-In Due To Traveling
Week 23 - Lost 1 (Covers Week 22 as well)
Week 24 - No Weigh-In Due to Schedule Change
Week 25 - Lost 0 (Covers Week 24 as well)

dan - please tell me what affect sleep has on weight loss. i have always heard that more sleep means a better body weight (mass) but i've also always heard the opposite. what have your experiences been with this? should a person have to have more sleep to lose more weight or the opposite. i'm curious to hear your answer, since i'm considering a haulistic approach to the problem involving either more or less sleep, which ever is better. much peace to your own search for better health! ted bench

Ted...I'm probably not the right person to ask, because my sleep patterns vary. But I do know that I've read that a full eight hours sleep is supposed to be good for the effort.

i'm sure a busy guy like you doesn't have time for 8 hours of sleep a night! kyle barrett (regular listener from calhoun falls, sc)

Web search engines are awesome and easy to use:

Bottom line to weight loss, sensible eating and exercise.

I like the new attitude Dan.

knh - thanks for the link. i am not the most computer literate person when it comes to web searches, so i'm appreciative for any advice on it. mainly i get advice from my son on this kind of stuff and there are times he hasn't been that helpful. i think he knows were to search for information on hair products more than anything and since i'm bald that doesn't do me any good! ted

Dan - your blog is great! i rarely get to hear your show now but i used to. i miss your takes on sports here in the blog! believe it or not. i need a daily fix of clemson sports from you, not from the other egg heads that think they know clemson sports but really are just in the back pockets of the clemson coaches! i wonder why the public puts up with the obviously non-professional efforts that you find on other sites where the "news" is influenced and vetted by the incumbent coaches. that's hardly news! i know your brand of news and it is NOT LIKE THAT. you provide a balanced blend of news and criticism of the incumbents and you don't let them get away with chenanigans. THANK YOU! and i hope you will be kind enough to let some of us know what is really going on (i know that the beat writers, like your guy larry williams, are supposed to be providing this service, but really i favor your style over theirs and i wonder when i will see more of your writing on tiger net! also i have some spent some time wondering and emailing people wether larry is unbiased by the coaches and their influence. we haven't come to a conclusion yet. you might say the jury is still out! so there is still a chance for him but we would like to definitely like to see more of your writing on sports here) BTW congradulations on your weight loss success and i look forward to weigh in day every week. me and the on line jury have a little wager each week on the amount. this week i have the -3 in the pool although i really think that -5 will win!
